How to find the IMEI Number of your Phone

The IMEI number is a great indicator of weather or not a phone has been lost, stolen, or has an outstanding balance with a wireless carrier. Each iPhone will have its own unique IMEI number, essentially acting as a serial number for the device. There are a couple different reasons for why you would want to know what the number is:

We make sure to check the IMEI number on every product that we receive to see if it has been reported lost or stolen, and verify it's not still activated on a wireless network. If any of these ring true for your device, we won't be able to buy it.

1. Dial the code: *#06#

Simply dial the code: *#06# into your iPhone and the IMEI (or MEID) number will appear on your screen after you've finished entering it in. You don't even have to push the call button, the number shows as soon as you finish dialing. This method is extremely easy and works on practically any iPhone! In this case, the number displayed will either be an IMEI or an MEID number (another form of an electronic serial number). iPhones locked on GSM networks (AT&T, T-Mobile) will display the IMEI number, while phones locked on CDMA networks (Verizon, Sprint) show MEID numbers.

2. Look on the back of your iPhone

If you have an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus you can spot the IMEI number located on the back of the iPhone. Look toward the bottom and if you've got good eyes, you'll see the number

3. From the Settings menu

Regardless of which iPhone you have, you'll be able to find it within the Settings menu. Go to General> About and scroll down about 2/3 of the way until you see IMEI (or MEID) on the left hand side.

4. Inside the SIM card tray

Simply eject the SIM card from the slot on the side of the iPhone and read the IMEI number printed on the tray.

With that, it should be all the information you need to find the IMEI number on your iPhone!
